Profile of Asish Basak

Asish Basak is a perfect example of a jack of a few trades. And he also holds some aces too.

   An individual of versatile talent, he is a proven performer in several creative sectors.

 Born and brought up in the cosmopolitan culture of Kolkata, Asish showed early potential during his school days in South Point. But his flight of fancy actually took wings during his graduation, B.Sc. from CU, and then B.E. (Civil Engg.) from Nagpur University.

     Being ambitious and overly independent-natured, he could not confine himself to do any regular job and set up his own firm- ‘The Phoenix’, a Consultancy that deals with HRD, Training & Placement.

      During his early career, meeting many people from various walks of life inspired him to start his own 3D News-Media -“Hello Kolkata”.

     Apart from running a Daily English Newspaper, TV Media and news-web, Asish Basak is now a renowned PR Consultant, handling scopes for branding and promotions for various organizations of different stature.

      Sheer perseverance, experimentation and consistent innovation have helped him realise his dream of being a film-maker. 

    His first feature film- ‘M-FACTOR’ -  (U/A) is based on Islamic impact on India (since 640 AD till today). This highly sensitive film has got more than 70 newspapers & 15 TV coverage.  The high-voltage action drama won U/A certification from Film Tribunal after being rejected 2 times by Censor Board.

      Asish Basak’s 2nd feature film was ‘Sesh Theke Abar Shuru’ (U), a romantic comedy that has also got more than 30 newspapers & 6 TV coverage.   

     He is now into his 3rd film - ‘Chalte Chalte Bindass - Camera On’.

       Asish Basak has now started several TV series related to tour & travel, health, education, women empowerment, etc.

       Asish Basak has done 7 Music Video Albums, several short films, docu-films, etc.

   He is now doing  2 docu-films: -  ’Uncommon Rituals in India’ (on tribal & rural rituals) and ‘BANGALIANA’ (on the rich heritage of art & culture of ‘DUI BANGLA’).

      Asish Basak’s first love is writing, a skill well-documented in his 6 books:-

    As Editor-Director of ‘Hello Kolkata’, he has successfully planned and executed events of a wide range, including Talk Shows, Seminars, Art Expo, Fairs, Cultural Programs, etc.

      Since 2017, Asish Basak is also into Artistry and Theme-Making of Pujas.

      A confirmed bachelor and agnostic in practice, Asish Basak aspires to do many more creative works and hopes to help in holistic development of society through his consistent contributions.
