AANIOH organized its 4th Alumni Meet in Kolkata


Alumni Association of National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped (AANIOH) organized its 4th Alumni Meet on 21st and 22nd December in Kolkata. Governor of West Bengal Shri Jagdeep Dhankar inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. He urged alumni to play a vital role for this institute. He also said that they should provide financial help to National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD) by creating a fund. He gave away some prosthetic and orthotic aids to needy differently abled people.
Dr Shakti Prasad Das, Director, NILD told about the institute. 
Dr P.K. Lenka President of AANIOH, informed the brief story of the association and its objective towards the welfare of the differently-abled people. Shri Pravin Kumar, Secretary of AANIOH discussed the activities of two days meet.

EASTERN ARMY COMMANDER visits Formations

Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan, General Officer Commanding in Chief of Eastern Command accompanied by Lieutenant General Nav K Khanduri, General Officer Commanding Trishakti Corps visited a formation and various military stations in North Bengal from 27 to 28 Dec. 2019. On arrival the Army Commander was received by General Officer Commanding of the Division and thereafter proceeded on an aerial recce of the border areas.    The Army Commander was briefed in detail by the General Officer Commanding of the Division on the operational, training and logistics preparedness of the formation followed by visit to the station. The Army Commander also visited various military stations of Trishakti Corps where he was apprised of the infrastructural and training facilities by the respective station commanders. The Army Commander during his visit interacted extensively with troops.  He complimented the high state of operational preparedness as well as training standards and exhorted all ranks to continue the good work.


The Army Commander was accompanied by Smt Anupama Chauhan, Regional President AWWA Eastern Command. During the visit, Smt. Chauhan visited  Army Skill Development and Training Centre  and interacted with the families of all ranks.

Rotary India Humanity Hero Awards

Rotary is organizing "Rotary India Humanity Hero Awards" where 4 unsung heroes from India will be awarded. If you look around, you will find some outstanding people who take time out to do good for others and yet, their stories of goodness remain unsung. 
With a focus on Economic Development, Health, Literacy and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, ROTARY wish to present awards to four Humanity Heroes from across India. "Rotary India Humanity Hero Awards" has a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- and a citation will be presented to each hero at a mega event scheduled on 14th February, 2020 in Kolkata.
A panel of jury drawn from diverse illustrious backgrounds will decide and shortlist candidates from each category who will be then put up for online voting by only Indians.

12th Bengal Sub Junior State Tennis Championship 2019

Saijayani Banerjee bags a double crown at the just concluded 12th Bengal Sub Junior State Tennis Championship 2019, held at the synthetic courts of the Bengal Tennis Association Complex. 
Banerjee opened the day with a straight set win over Rituja Saha in the final of the Girls Singles Under 12. She followed it up with yet another title as she also grabbed the Girls Singles Under 14 crown, taming Sohini Chatterjee by an easy 6-0,6-1.
Rohan Agarwal, in the Boys Singles Under 14 draw took no time to drub second seeded Tamoghna Das by a comfortable 6-1,6-1 and win the title. Top seed in Girls Singles Under 16, Shimreen Ahamed lifted the title with a convincing 6-2,6-2 win against sister Shireen Ahamed.
The Boys & Girls Singles Under 10 events were won by Amrit Vats and Aleena Farid respectively.

'Hello Kolkata Style Icon 2019'

'Hello Kolkata Style Icon 2019' came to a fitting conclusion on 28th Dec. eve at Calcutta Press Club. This is a Talent Hunt initiative that recognizes and rewards an individual for his/her dedication, perseverance and outstanding contribution for holistic development of our society, informed Asish Basak, Editor-Director, 'Hello Kolkata' (3D News, Events and Films).
     'Hello Kolkata STYLE ICON 2019' winners are Sangita Sinha (HK Glam ICON), Jayashree Khara (HK Youth Icon), Boby Mondal (HK Screen Icon) and Dipa Sharma (HK Make-Over Icon).
    Special awards were presented to child artist Shilpi Naru, eminent video editor Nandita Mandal, tabla player Dibyendu Pal, socialites Farooque Malik, Suchismita Roychowdhury, Sk. Raja and Sam Kapoor. 
      Four very talented and promising actors Sagar Thapa, Divya Mitra, Manish De and Tanima Singha Roy were also awarded with 'Hello Kolkata Most Promising Entertainer Award', for their wonderful role in 'PLAYER Season 1'.
    The program also witnessed felicitation of a host of dignitaries like Pt. 288 LOCOMOTIVES of SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

To track the location and speed of running trains, Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed the Real Time Train Information System (RTIS) Project by linking the locomotives via satellites.
RTIS is primarily used for acquisition of train movement data including arrival, departure and run-through timings at the enroute stations.

'Innomania Motion Pictures' presented 'PRANAYAN 2' on 27th Dec. eve at Birla Planetarium. Two special short films made by 'Innomania Motion Pictures', produced by Boby Mondal and written by Jayashree Khara, were screened there in front of a packed audience.
   'Kalchokro', a thriller, is directed by Anup Sammaddar. 
  'The Psychiatrist' is directed by Asish Basak, where eminent social activist Farooque Mallik played an important role.

   Jayashree Khara, immensely talented actress, script-writer and film-maker, was justifiably selected as 'Hello Kolkata YOUTH ICON 2019' for her versatile talents. 

     Boby and Jayashree were felicitated by a host of dignitaries at Birla Planetarium on 27th Dec. eve during 'Pranayan - 2', a colourful ceremony of glitz and glamour, held with kind support by Farooque Malik, MD of Global.

Top 2 seeds in the Boys Singles Under 16 category lives up to their billing as Arunava Majumdar and Rohan Agarwal sets up a summit clash at the ongoing 12th Bengal Sub Junior State Tennis Championship 2019, been held at the synthetic courts of the Bengal Tennis Association Complex.
Arunava Majumdar, seeded 1 in the Boys Singles Under 16 category did not have to sweat much before drubbing Soham Ghosh in the semi finals today as the later won by an easy 6-1,6-0. From the lower half of the draw, second seeded Rohan Agarwal brushed Ethan Lee aside as the former won by a straight 6-4,6-1. 
Top seed in Girls Singles Under 16, Shimreen Ahamed entered the finals with a 6-0,7-5 win over 3rd seeded Tannishtha Mukherjee. Ahamed will face her elder sister and second seed, Shireen Ahamed in the finals tomorrow. Shireen got the better of 8th seeded Sumeira Jaiswal in the semi finals by a close 6-4,6-4.
