'Rathayatra Special Cooking Fiesta'

12 excitingly talented cooks and food-lovers participated in 'Rathayatra Special BHOG-Ranna Contest', presented by 'Newtown Shukhobrishti Jagannath Society', in association with 'Hello Kolkata', on 11th July eve.

  The deserving winner was Madhusmita Sasmal ('Jagannath Special') and joint runner-ups were Sweta Srivastava ('Kaddu Ki Barfi') and Madhumita Ghosh ('Radhaballavi'). 

    Other contestants who presented delicious dishes of various items were Chandana Das, Madhuri Mahato, Pinki Bose, Monalisa Chakraborty, Queen Kumari, Sushmita Pramanik, Sanjana Kukunur, Saswati Bose and Smita Chakraborty.

    The Jury Members were Magician Somnath, Atun and Sukanya Roy. 

    Magician Somnath also put up a scintillating magic show after the cooking contest to regale the audience, comprising of all ages.

    Ms. Smita Charaborty, Cultural Secy., Ms. Chandan Mallick and Mr. Subhodeep Mallick, Org. Secy. of 'Newtown Shukhobrishti Jagannath Society' put in their best efforts to make the cooking fiesta a grand success.

               গত ৭ই জুলাই বিড়লা একাডেমী তে অনুষ্ঠিত হল গীতিকা কলেজ অফ ডান্স এন্ড মিউজিক আয়োজিত  "রবীন্দ্র নজরুল সন্ধ্যা"। সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটির পরিকল্পনা ও পরিচালনায় ছিলেন বিশিষ্ট তবলা বাদক শ্রী বিশ্বরঞ্জন নন্দী ও বিশিষ্ট সঙ্গীত শিল্পী শ্রীমতি অর্পিতা নন্দী ।

                এই অনুষ্ঠানে আমন্ত্রিত অতিথি শিল্পী হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন  শ্রীমতি সুস্মিতা গোস্বামী, শ্রীমতি চন্দ্রাবলী রুদ্র দত্ত, শ্রী প্রদীপ দত্ত, শ্রীমতি রীণা মুখোপাধ্যায় এবং ড: তানিয়া দাস। তাঁদের উপস্থিতি ও সঙ্গীত পরিবেশনা অনুষ্ঠানটিকে এক অন্য মাত্রা প্রদান করে। এ ছাড়াও অসাধারণ সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করেন গীতিকার কর্ণধার, ছাত্রছাত্রী এবং সদস্যবৃন্দরা। এঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন শ্রীমতি অর্পিতা নন্দী, শ্যামল ভট্টাচার্য, স্বপ্না সেনগুপ্ত, শিপ্রা আশ, সঙ্গীতা ঠাকুর, স্মৃতি ভট্টাচার্য , সারিকা  সর্দার , সাহানা পারভিন, অমৃতা দাস ও অভ্রনীল গুহ । অসাধারণ কবিতা আবৃত্তি করেন ঝর্ণা দত্ত এবং শতানিক ভট্টাচার্য । বিভিন্ন উদ্ভাবনী নৃত্য সন্ধ্যাটিকে একটি মনোজ্ঞ রূপ দিয়েছিল ।নৃত্য পরিবেশনায় ছিল দীপ্তাংশু - গার্গী পারফর্মিং ট্রুপ, রামপুরহাট গান্ধর্বী সোসাইটি (পরিচালনা- কাবেরী সিং) নাশিন  ফারজানা (শিশু শিল্পী)।

              সম্মেলক সঙ্গীতের পরিবেশনাও ছিলো অত্যন্ত সুন্দর ।এদের মধ্যে ছিলো গীতিকা (যোধপুর পার্ক) - পরিচালনায় শ্রীমতি চন্দ্রাবলী রুদ্র দত্ত, সুরঞ্জনী (পরিচালনায়- শ্রীমতি রীণা মুখোপাধ্যায়), আনন্ত্য শিল্পী গোষ্ঠী (পরিচালনায়- ড: তানিয়া দাস) এবং গান্ধর্বী (রামপুরহাট) - পরিচালনায় চৈতী মজুমদার ।

        এই সবকিছুর সাথে ছিল অসাধারণ যন্ত্রানুষঙ্গ। তবলায় গীতিকার কর্ণধার শ্রী বিশ্বরঞ্জন নন্দী, কি বোর্ড এ শ্রী সৌমেন্দ্রনাথ দত্ত এবং পারকাশন এ শ্রী অমিতরঞ্জন রায় । সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন বিশিষ্ট বাচিক শিল্পী শ্রীমতি মৌ গুহ। শব্দ প্রক্ষেপণে ছিলেন হাসি পাঞ্চাল । প্রেক্ষাগৃহ ছিল কানায় কানায় পূর্ণ । সব মিলিয়ে সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটি ছিল  অত্যন্ত মনমুগ্ধকর ।

Instagram tie up with YLAC India for Counter Speech Fellowship in Kolkata

Instagram, in association with Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC), launched its flagship youth program - the Counter Speech Fellowship. Coming to Kolkata for the second time in two years, the Fellowship is a part of Instagram’s efforts to be the safest and kindest platform for teens to express themselves, informed Tara Bedi, Public Policy and Community Outreach Manager, Instagram, India.

The Counter Speech Fellowship engages creative teens to use the power of visual storytelling to start meaningful conversations on issues that are important to young citizens around the world. The program is built around the idea of using arts for positive expression and advocacy, and is designed as an incubator for the future generation of leaders and activists. In 2019, the fellowship will be launched in Kolkata, Guwahati and Hyderabad and will focus on six themes - bullying, diversity, mental well-being, body positivity, gender equality and sustainability, informed Rohit Kumar, Co-Founder, YLAC India.

SonyLIV, India’s first premium video on demand platform (VOD) crossed the 100 MN app download on Play store. Fake Sonata watches seized, One arrested

Bishnupur Police Station personnel, along with members of 'Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights', carried a raid at a watch company at Diamond Harbour Road, South 24 Parganas and seized fake Sonata wrist-watches from the shop.

   Cops during the raid seized the watches and arrested the accused person from the shop. The accused was arrested under section 63 & 65 of Copyright Act, 1957 and under section 420 of Indian Penal Code.

Training Tomorrow’s Professionals

Applied Professional Training (APT) is in the field of imparting training on Cabin Crew Operations, Advanced Airport Management, Hotel Operations & Management to budding professionals. It was formed by a group of professional trainers who were excelling in their fields, but felt that the approach of most of the training institutes towards professional training was not matching the requirements up to the aspirations of the trainees (students). The approach of the training institutes were very conventional, relying more on bookish information (which were most of the time outdated).

'Rathayatra Utsav' by 'Newtown Shukhobrishti Jagannath Society'

'Newtown Shukhobrishti Jagannath Society' has organized a mega fiesta- 'Lord of the Universe Fest' ('Rathayatra Utsav') from 3 - 12 July at Newtown Shukhobrishti Complex.

   Apart from 56 Bhogs & Arati each day, the festival has a well-spread Fair, showcasing various items, along with a range of cultural programs on stage for wholesome entertainment for all ages, informed Sri Subhodeep Mallick, Organizing Secretary, NSJS.

Milky Moo Tolly Open

Saquib Hussain took home the Milky Moo Tolly Open title after carding a final round 74 and a tournament total of 151 to emerge victorious by four strokes over overnight leader Joysurjo Dey (155). Saquib also took home the Category B title to complete a double delight at the Tollygunge Club here.

 Garv Lakhmani finished third overall and runners up in Category B nine strokes behind Joysurjo tied with Gurmehr Bindra in fourth (third in Category B) by countback. Rakshik Basu completed the top five places finishing at 175.

 Viranca Poddar overturned a massive six stroke overnight deficit to win Category C event.  He carded a final round 74 for a two round total of 160 to win by four strokes over Ahaan Gupta (164). Overnight leader Rishi Biswas (168) had a day to forget as he finished third followed by Aditya Khaitan a further stroke behind.

 Anshul Mishra comfortably won the Category D title with a commanding total of 154. Vivaan Bhandari came second a massive 39 strokes behind with Vivaan Chhawchharia in third a further four strokes behind. Karishma Samadder won the Girls’ Category B title after finishing with a two day total of 164.

Two New Music Albums

Eagle Eye Entertainment and Angel Digital had officially released their  wo music albums - "Tara Tui To Amar Maa" and "Tor Ai Valobasari Chhoya Ke". The glittering ceremony was held at Kolkata Press Club on 4th July eve. 

   "Tor Ai Valobasari Chhoya Ke" is sung by Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016 champion Soumen Nandi and Sangita Deb. 

   "Tara Tui To Amar Maa" is sung by renowned singer Ranvir Roy,       

       A host of dignitaries from various sectors of the society, including singer Kamalika Chakrabarty from Zee Bangla and Junior Kishor Mondal from Star Jalsa, had graced the occasion.

Rubaru Mr. n Miss Junior India  Bihar Zone Final was held on 30th June with great fanfare.
