The Chandernagore Sanskriti (ChnS) is a non-profit organization. The main objective of this society lies in protecting, conserving and restoring the historic and socio-cultural heritage in and around Chandernagore. ChnS aims to work towards enabling and promoting research and dissemination of knowledge of heritage of the region. It hopes to start and maintain an information reserve centre and help in the management of libraries for the furtherance of studies on the heritage of the local area. The organization will work towards establishing and maintaining a centre for heritage restoration, imparting knowledge about protection and control of pollution of heritage properties, as well as for beautification of the heritage sites.
ChnS hopes to organize tourist visits showcasing heritage sites and arrange art and cultural events. ChnS also proposes to organize lectures, debates, interactive discussions, seminars excursions where the people of Chandernagore can be equally involved in contributing to the protection of their own heritage.
ChnS further aims to establish and help in running and maintaining projects for the benefit of the people of Chandernagore. It can help in organizing self-help group based programs for saving the rare art, handicrafts and cultural heritage of the region.
Finally, ChnS aspires to act as a platform for educationists, researchers, artists and architects to promote and preserve the heritage of Chandernagore.
