Child Psychology -Rituparna Sarkar

We are all running a rat’s race be it for a living or any other purpose. Amidst this race, the parents of the present generation need to nurture their children in a manner that will not only help them cope with life but also make them a better human being. Another aspect of parents should be to inculcate good mannerisms in their children.
Well, obviously there are parents who would say that they have done everything to understand their child and his/her psychology. But trust me even you in your middle age you too want someone to understand you better. Then why not your child?
Here are a few tips for parents upon how to deal with your child’s psychology.
1.       Talk to your child. Slowly and patiently. Don’t yell. Its important that you lend an ear to what your child has to say as well.
2.       Respect your child’s feelings. Remember they too have feelings just like you.
3.       Praise, praise and praise! A pat on the back always helps you to go an extra mile. Please be benign when you praise your child. Trust me, it doesn’t cost you anything.
4.       Avoid comparisons. Remember there is always a better co-worker at your workplace. You wouldn’t like to be compared either.
5.       Be firm with what you say but assertive. Remember if you are positive then your child will also be a jar full of positiveness.
6.       Control your emotions. Your child may pass or fail. However, you are the one who is expected to show maturity.
7.       Please don’t live your unaccomplished dreams through your child. Let the child build his/her own identity.
8.       Trust your child. Show him/her that you have great amount of faith and regards for the kid.
9.       Learn to apologize. At times elders forget that they may or they can commit mistakes. If the child sees you apologizing and being humble, he/she will learn the same. Your child is a sponge.
10.   Tell your child that you love him/her. Make him/her feel needed and wanted. Trust me, this works wonder.
Best of luck. Keep shining!
