The unique Literoma Carnival was held with great fanfare yesterday at one of Kolkata’s posh boutique hotels.
More than fifty creative personalities- be it author, travel blogger, filmmaker, actor, artist, birder, singer, shayar or art lovers- made the Literoma Literary Talent Fest a real treat for everyone. The star studded eve witnessed the first of its kind creative talent show where performers travelled all the way from Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Bangalore, Murshidabad, Durgapur and other cities to add multidimensional colours to the fête.
Literoma Carnival embarked with the launch of internationally acclaimed author Reetwika Banerjee’s first trip diary “Travel Tales: Bengal on Wheels” by Guest of Honour curator Reshmi Chatterjee followed by Dr. Manisha Yadava’s scintillating recitation of self-composed Hindi poems. The showstopper was Urdu poet Kashif Ahsan’s soulful Ghazal which won many hearts. Veteran musician Debapriya Roy did the honour of launching Mandrita’s‘December Waves’ and city’s popular singer songwriter Prajna Dutta unveiled Devi Raghuvanshi’s eleventh title ‘Rukhsaar’. The carnival also marked the launch of Souvick Sen’s new travel website ‘Tours and Journeys’ and Ankan Roy’s production house ‘Rising Hope Films’, both announcing their collaboration with Literoma this year.
The Literoma welcome desk exhibiting handpicked ‘Top 10 Books of the Year’ stole the show. Featured books of notable authors Dr. Shankar Kashyap, Reetwika Banerjee, Kapil Raj, Mehak Gupta Grover, Dr. Diwakar Pokhriyal, Sweta Sureka and Rahul Tushar attracted special interest of the guests.
Audience also enjoyed the multilingual poetry reading and storytelling presentations by HimonBaral, Mampi Ghosh, Sutanu Bhowmik, Dr. Sujata Chatterjee, Jagriti Roy, Dr. Ratan Ghosh, Partha Banerjee, Anindita Bose and Satabdi Banerjee, concluding with a melodious self-composed musical spell by Prajna Dutta.
The program was well-coordinated by the graceful emcees Tamal Mukherjee and Mandrita Bose.
