43rd Raising Day celebrations of the Indian Coast Guard

As part of the 43rd Raising Day celebrations of the Indian Coast Guard, a motorcycle rally with the aim to spread awareness on Coastal Security was flagged off by Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal at an impressive ceremony held at Raj Bhawan lawns. Inspector General Rajan Bargotra, Commander Coast Guard Region (North East) was also present on the occasion.
The Motor Cycle Rally comprised of joint team of 20 personnel from the ICG and Marine Police. The rally will cover a distance of 1150 km halting at 5 coastal towns in the states of West Bengal and Odisha and will culminate at Kolkata on 23 Jan 20. During the course of the event the ICG will organize Community Interaction Programmes/Medical Camps with the local fishing community for spreading awareness on Coastal Security at Digha, Contai and Haldia in West Bengal and Dharma, Paradip & Chandipur in Odisha. Apart from generating awareness on coastal security, this exercise will also serve as a confidence building measure amongst the fisher folk who are considered as ‘eyes and ears’ for coastal security mechanism.
