Unseeded Udit Gogoi from India shocks the 6th seed in the opening round of the Boys Singles Under 18 at the ongoing DKS ITF JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2020, been held at the synthetic courts of the Bengal Tennis Association Complex.
Gogoi made a come back against Bohua Dong of China, seeded 6 in the Boys Singles draw, as the former broke back at 2-5 down and followed it up with a hold of serve to reach at 4-5. Here, Dong got lucky as he pulled out a long game to pocket the opening set by 6-4. It was a completely one sided affair from the second set onward as India's Gogoi proved to be too good for the Chinese challenge as he dropped just 2 games in the next 14 to win the match by a convincing 4-6,6-1,6-1. Gogoi will meet Nikhil Niranjan in the pre quarter finals tomorrow.
In the Girls Singles Under 18, unseeded Jasmine Conway of Great Britain overcame the 8th seed and from Russia, Kristina Volgapkina as the former was leading by 6-0,3-0 where Kristina conceded citing bad health.
