DKS ITF JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

Unseeded Jasmine Conway of Great Britain stuns the top seed from Russia, Maria Sholokhova to claim the Girls Singles title at the just concluded DKS ITF JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2020, held at the synthetic courts of the Bengal Tennis Association Complex.

Top seeded Sholokhova, ranked at 110 in the world junior rankings pocketed the opening set in exact 29 minutes by a humiliating 6-0. Thereafter, it was a no-looking back for the unseeded Conway as she made a remarkable come back in the second set by breaking the Russian twice to grab the set by 6-2 and eventually level the match at one set a piece. In the deciding set, it was more of a one-sided affair as Conway, who was off the circuit for 6 months due to injury, won 5 straight games to take a significant lead. Conway finally got richer by 200 world junior ranking points as she won the finals by a dramatic 0-6,6-2,6-1 in 1hr and 55mins.

In the Boys Singles final, it was the unseeded Daniel Ibragimov from Russia who stole the show as he was quick to win the opening set by 6-2. From the second set and very much like the Girls Singles final, it was the top seeded Pengyu Lu who displayed optimum patience and rallied long to come back strong and dropped just 4 games in the next 12 to claim the title. China's Lu, currently ranked at 78 in the world junior ranking charts added 200 points to his kitty bu=y winning the title, here at DKS.
