The month of Ramzan is likely to begin from 25th April, 2020, subject to sighting of the moon.
Various Muslim organisations/institutions /intellectuals/ulemas have inter-alia asked the Muslim community to strictly follow the lockdown guidelines during Ramzan and perform Iftar, Sahri as well as Tarawi Namaz (special evening congregation prayer during Ramzan) at home along with family members only. They have also sought cooperation from the Government to provide necessary facilities to the Muslims during Ramzan, keeping in view their religious sentiments.
During the lockdown period, state governments and UT administrations will ensure that proper arrangements are made for availability of essential goods and food items, including milk and fruits required for Ramzan. All steps will be taken to prevent violation of lockdown measures. Special watch will be kept on maintaining communal harmony, especially in sensitive areas.
Adequate precautionary measures will be taken to maintain law and order along with strict implementation of lockdown measures. Vigil will also be maintained against circulation of objectionable content on social media and action may swiftly be taken for their blocking/removal.
