In a talk organised at Fort William Kolkata last evening, General JJ Singh (Retd), former Chief of Army Staff and Governor of Arunachal Pradesh spoke on the “The McMahon Line - A Century of Discord”, the book authored by him last year. The talk covered historical events that led to the delineation of the McMahon Line and the resultant border dispute which India inherited on gaining independence. The subject is of contemporary interest for officers of Eastern Command those who are now responsible for guarding the nation's interest along the disputed borders. The talk was also attended by civilians who have an interest on the subject. In the end General JJ Singh (Retd) gave away the prizes to three officers who had reviewed the book.
