IIT Kanpur joins the Vaccine race

  A team of researchers from IIT Kanpur is developing two vaccines against coronavirus, Business Line reports. The vaccines will be tested in animal models later this month and human trials are likely in three months if everything goes well, the researchers told the daily. IIT Kanpur’s Department of Biotechnology is supporting four other vaccine candidates from desi drugmakers. Meanwhile, US-based Gilead Sciences has inked pacts with Cipla, Jubilant, Hetero Labs and Mylan in India and Ferozsons Labs in Pakistan to manufacture remdesivir, its experimental Covid-19 drug.
